Il s'agit de chiens qui, pour une raison ou une autre, n'ont pas été retenus dans l'équipe de course, ou de jeunes chiens en formation pour intégrer cette équipe.

Tous les huskies d'Alaska ne sont pas forcément d'excellents chiens de course, mais la plupart restent d'excellents chiens de traîneau et adorent courir. Nous leur donnons à tous une chance, et même s'ils ne font pas partie des équipes de course, ce sont des chiens absolument fantastiques pour emmener les visiteurs en balade et pour pratiquer le traîneau de loisir.

Les jeunes chiens ne peuvent pas intégrer l'équipe de course sans un entraînement adéquat ; ils passeront donc les deux premières années de leur vie à apprendre à devenir de bons chiens de traîneau, dans l'espoir de pouvoir, un jour, intégrer l'équipe de course !
